Labor is a process that involves significant physiological and psychological changes in the mother, especially during the second, third, and fourth stages of labor. Each of these stages has specific characteristics that require monitoring and specialized interventions from healthcare providers to support a smooth process and ensure the mother’s well-being. This study aims to explore the physiological and psychological changes that occur in mothers during the second, third, and fourth stages of labor. Using a descriptive qualitative design, data were collected through direct observation and in-depth interviews with healthcare providers involved in maternal care. The results indicate the presence of physiological changes such as increased contractions, placental expulsion, and uterine recovery, as well as psychological changes including feelings of anxiety, relief, and adaptation to the baby’s presence. Holistic support is needed to ensure the well-being of the mother in each stage of labor.
