Abstract

Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder that results in delayed physical and mental development in children. Children with Down Syndrome require comprehensive nursing care to support their physical, social, and emotional development. This study aims to describe the nursing care approach for children with Down Syndrome in healthcare facilities. Using a descriptive qualitative research design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with nurses who work with children with Down Syndrome. The study results show that nurses provide care in the form of health monitoring, emotional support, and family education regarding daily care management. Some challenges in nursing care include limited resources and a lack of parental understanding about the child’s special needs. This study recommends increased training for healthcare providers and support for families to improve the quality of life for children with Down Syndrome.
